• Dog Friendly Weddings

At The William Cecil we love all four legged pooches, big or small, so don’t leave them out on your special day. Whether you give them an important role in the ceremony, or they are simply an honoured guest, having your faithful friend at your side is a great way of making the day a truly family affair. Your beloved pooch can also enjoy his or her very own meal during the wedding breakfast and spend the night in a dog-friendly honeymoon suite.

Having your pet as part of your wedding ceremony is a lovely addition to the day but there is a lot to bear in mind before making such a big decision, from muddy paws on the dress to dog poop in the gardens.

You need to consider their temperament and behaviour. If they are nervous or get overwhelmed by big crowds, it may be better to keep them at home. Weddings can be a very tiring day for even the most well trained pooch, and you may not be able to give your pup all the attention they need, so consider which part you want your doggo to attend, maybe the ceremony or just the photos, and have them taken home before the evening begins. We would recommend nominating a family member to look after them throughout the day. Or why not take the stress away entirely and hire a dog sitter?

Lydia at The Stamford Cat Sitter offers a Wedding Dog Sitting Service which includes staying with them as you set off for your big day, bringing them to the venue at a time of your choosing, and returning them home that evening. She can also stay with them at home for a few hours or overnight.

And of course, everyone is going to want to look their best so don’t forget to include your pup in the pre-wedding pamper sessions. A bath, brush, nail trim and even a colour coordinated bow tie, or flower crown collar, will have your dashing dog photo ready in no time.
